BRINGING LOTS OF CHRISTMAS CHEER

Bedfordview Innerwheel often spoils the GFH ladies and was one of the organisations that ensured Christmas at the home was merry. Brenda Kelly (left) and Nicky Sheppard (right) delivered Christmas gifts for every resident and staff member to the home's fundraiser, Nicole van Eeden.

CANCER SURVIVORS RAISED A HAPPY VIBE!

The home’s oldest resident, Doris Bennet, is a cancer survivor! Gifts and a cake in celebration of her upcoming 104th birthday were a highlight of the cancer awareness event held on 1 March, which was a team effort between Warriors with a Purpose, JCP Consulting, Brave Bag Foundation and GFH's fundraiser and carers.

Residents truly valued the hampers, the gifts and the information they received during the cancer awareness event held at GFH on 1 March 2022.
Cancer survivor Renee Singh (centre) is the chairperson of Warriors with a Purpose, which collaborated with JCP Consulting and Brave Bag Foundation to put together a wonderful treat for residents while raising awareness of cancer
GFH Residents’ Committee chair Sheila Charles is Renee Singh's proud mom.
Laughter activation coach Sue Jameson soon had everyone in stitches.

A LITTLE LOVE GOES A LONG WAY

Our ladies dressed in red for a lovely Valentine’s brunch, sponsored by A Milner Realty.
Feminine scents wafted up from the gifts of toiletries that the St Stithians Boys’ College Interact Committee mobilised the Grade 11s at the school to donate and wrap. They catered for the specific needs of residents in independent living, assisted living and frail care to ensure that each lady felt loved in February. From left are Devi Thaver and Val Wood, on their way to their rooms to unwrap their treats.

STOCKING UP!

To help ensure that the GFH Charity Shop would have a few toys and luxuries for sale in the run-up to Christmas, some enthusiastic GFH residents got together to make bath salts and teddy bears. Maria Larsen concentrated on perfecting her batch.
Front from left are Nonicah Molobela, Maria Larsen, Samaria Mbyane and Averil Erasmus. Standing are Lucreatia Yozi, Sheila Charles and Maureen Singh with the bath salts they made.
Several knitted teddies were ready to find children to love in time for Christmas, thanks to the GFH residents who knitted them, and the ones who stuffed and finished them.
